I know. I was wrong. Before the weekend of the VP nomination pick, I predicted that Josh Shapiro would get the nomination. I cited articles and online markets and all the vibes were pointing towards a Harris Shapiro slate. But I was pleasantly (yes pleasantly) surprised with the pick of Tim Walz. In fact, I actually wrote in my blog post that I would like to see Tim Walz nominated. In fact, here’s what I wrote verbatim:
“Who would I like to see as the nominee? From my perspective, coming from the left-wing, I would love to see Tim Walz as our VP. Why? He’s a guy that just get’s things done. Walz passed Universal Free School meals, legal weed, carbon free electricity by 2040, tax rebates for the working class up to $1,300 if you make less than $150,000 a year, 12 weeks paid family leave, 12 weeks paid sick leave, banned conversion therapy, Red Flag laws for for guns, universal background checks for guns, automatic voter registration, free public college for families that make under 80,000 a year, $2.2 billion increase in K2 school funding, and sectoral bargaining for nursing home workers, ALL WITH A ONE SEAT MAJORITY.”
I am super pumped to see the democratic party actually going forward with a more progressive, action-oriented, campaign instead of a calmer, centrist one. Tim Walz is a doer, and seeing Harris pick him for VP means Kamala is ready to get to work as well.
This Vice Presidential pick was huge. The campaign has successfully extended their honeymoon phase. This was evident in the first rally in Pennsylvania after the Harris Walz ticket was announced. Both politicians walked in to a loud, long, and loving standing ovation. Since then, the two have toured the swing states with equally positive reactions. Most specifically, however, Harris and Walz were invited to formally speak for the UAW and seems to have their full endorsement. This speaks volumes about the pair’s support for organized labor and unions, one of the huge issues come November (especially for the average American worker).
My next blog post will be about the coming election. Looking over polls, swing states, and more. I will 100% have multiple predictions coming your way.
